PHANTOM HIRE'S BLOG

Bel Jacobs wrote in 2020 that the revenue made from vintage clothing in second-hand shops was estimated to rise from £18 billion to £39 billion by 2023. This was determined to be primarily spearheaded by Gen-Z, which perhaps explains why, out of the many different themes that could be chosen for your prom, the ‘vintage’ prom theme has proven itself to be one of the most popular of recent years. Whether it be due to nostalgia for the aesthetic of 40s–70s fashion, a resurgence in the popularity of classic jazz records, or the influence of classic vintage stories like The Great Gatsby or The Godfather, it seems that the ‘vintage’ aesthetic is very much in.

Given the rise in popularity of this extremely specific prom theme, it’s no wonder that our requests from prom car hire have increasingly included some variation of the question, “What vintage cars have you got”? As such, this article will serve to highlight 3 of the stunning cars available from our high-end fleet that we think would be an excellent fit for a vintage-themed prom, as well as outlining any bespoke features that would further enhance the experience.

The Rolls-Royce Phantom 8

Though by no means a vintage vehicle, having been first unveiled in 2017, the unparalleled luxury that is evoked by the Rolls-Royce Phantom 8 are a fantastic match for a vintage-themed prom. Often viewed as the crème de la crème of the iconic Rolls-Royce car manufacturer, the Phantom 8’s sleek, curvy design fantastically harkens back to some of the most iconic vehicles of 60s & 70s cine ma, such as The Godfather, The Sting or any number of classic James Bond movies. If you’re looking for a modern vehicle that still gives off that classic vintage aura, you won’t find much better than the Phantom 8.

The Baby Bentley Limo

Bentley is renowned all over the world as a masterclass of what can be done with a luxury car, and the Baby Bentley Limo perfectly exemplifies that. By taking a classic Bentley vehicle and restructuring it into a classic 8-seater limo, the Baby Bentley Limo has utterly redefined what it means to be a vintage luxury vehicle. Additionally, from a visual perspective, unlike the Phantom, the Baby Bentley Limo more closely resembles the vintage vehicles that it seeks to emulate; its smooth exterior and round headlights perfectly match the Bentley cars of old. If you want a truly authentic vintage vehicle, this is the one for you.

The Rolls-Royce Ghost

Elegant, understated, and steeped in the spirit of timeless luxury, the Rolls-Royce Ghost is another exceptional option for a vintage-themed prom. First introduced in 2009, the Ghost offers a more minimalistic and classic design than its Phantom counterpart, making it the perfect blend of contemporary craftsmanship and old-world charm. With its iconic Pantheon grille, signature rear-hinged coach doors, and whisper-quiet ride, the Ghost delivers a sense of regality reminiscent of the elite social scenes captured in period dramas like Downton Abbey. Its refined silhouette and luxurious interior create a sense of stepping back into a more glamorous era – ideal for those who want their prom entrance to feel like a scene out of a classic film.
