As we pointed out in our wedding planning guide, sorting out your wedding transportation is one of the most important things to get right on your wedding day. This is the most important day of your life, and the last thing you need is for your dream vehicle to be already booked when you call the chauffeur company, or for your bridesmaids to get stuck in traffic on the way to the reception. In this article, we’ll be listing 5 key things to keep in mind when you hire a wedding car, identifying the key mistakes that are usually made by customers, and how these can be avoided. 

Book Early!!

We can’t tell you how many times we’ve been contacted by a panicked groom looking to book his wedding car a week before his planned wedding date, only to have to tell him that all our vehicles have been booked out.  To avoid this happening, we always recommend that you book your wedding car hire well before the date of your wedding. 

To best avoid being left disappointed, we recommend that you book your vehicle at least 6 to 12 months before your wedding date. For even better results, we also recommend booking prior to “peak wedding season”, which is when we get the highest volume of calls requesting a wedding vehicle. This usually occurs from April to August, so we recommend calling us any time between November and February. 

Think About Your Guest List

This is especially important if you are organising transportation for a large group of people besides the bride and groom, such as the spouses’ families or the bridal party. The number of people in these groups will invariably affect your chosen wedding vehicle hire, as you will need a larger car to accommodate groups of people, which will in turn affect the wedding car cost, so make sure to take this into account when you are browsing the various options.

Discuss Routes & Timing In Advance

Sadly, whilst weddings ought to be a guaranteed smooth process, there is invariably a chance that something may go awry, especially when it comes to transporting the newly-weds and their guests from point A to point B – bad weather, potential traffic delays and haphazard timing are all unfortunate but very real possibilities.

This is your special day, and you deserve everything to play out exactly as you imagined, and an easy way to accomplish is by ensuring that your transport adheres to your chosen wedding theme. For example, a modern wedding car such as an Audi Q7 Limo would look extremely out of place against a Victorian-era wedding venue, so it is essential to make sure that your wedding car is in line with the theme you have chosen.

Have A Back-Up Plan In Place

As much as we may not want it, there is almost always a chance that something will go wrong, especially on an occasion like a wedding day, which requires a huge amount of intensive planning. With this in mind, make sure to have a contingency plan in place for your wedding transportation if something goes wrong – it’s better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
